We had a great day together as a family while Daddy was off work. We went with our friends, the Phelps's, to the Highland Park parade in the morning. It was actually pleasant in the shade with a breeze. The boys had a blast waving at the floats and screaming for candy. We went to the park nearby where there were bouncers, snacks, several other booths, and a face painting stand. The kids really wanted their faces painted but the line was too long so we promised them we'd do it that night.
Several friends came over to cookout that night. As promised, we bought some face paint and I did my best zebra face for Lee. He would only sit still so long :) The Phelps boys had much more elaborate "Puss n boots" and "Snake Man" faces. We enjoyed spending the holiday with friends we haven't seen since medical school.
