Lee and I had a vacation planned to California before all of our moving plans were made so the kids and I, drove down to Birmingham to meet Lee so we could fly out to San Diego. We had half a day to hang out in Birmingham so of course we saw the Grahams. The kids enjoyed playing at the park and Paul and Laura grilled out for us that night. It was nice to have a normal dinner since we were staying at a hotel. Pop Pop and Emme drove down the next morning and met us at the airport where we traded off cars and the kids went with them to the beach.
The Stroupes were so sweet to let us stay in their new house on Coronado Island! It was the perfect place to relax and unwind after a busy month of packing and moving. The weather was pretty cool so we stayed inside and read a lot and ate plenty of great food too. The house was walking distance to everything so we enjoyed strolling around for ice cream and shopping. Our friends, the Lloyds, came for a few days too and we enjoyed reconnecting with them, especially since we will be living so close together in Dallas next year!
Our gourmet surf and turf that we cooked one night. Steak, lobster tails, scallops, potatoes au gratin, asparagus, and grilled bread. So delicious!
This is what we did most of the time. Everyone had books they were really into.
View of San Diego bay.
On the ferry headed to the USS Midway aircraft carrier.
At the Padres baseball game. It was nice to wear and jacket and not be sweaty!
The kids were spoiled yet again at the beach with Emme and Pop Pop. Ellis wasn't a fan of the sand and would pick her feet up if she got close to it and if any got on her she would say "dirty". She eventually got used to it, but had to get readjusted everyday. So funny since she is constantly playing in dirt and rocks! Lee loved playing the sand with his dump trucks. Gran, Trish, and Parker were there for a few days and Lee and Parker always have fun together.
Lee has gotten much braver in the pool too and loves to jump really far!
Ellis joined on the fun. She would stand on the side and "count" 1,2,3 and then jump in.
Reunited at the airport. So glad we are back together...at least for the weekend!
